Flaxseed Peach-Mango Smoothie

After hearing about the um…health benefits…of flaxseed oil (primarily α-Linolenic acid), I’ve been trying to find ways to work it into my diet somehow.  It kind of has a flavor, so you either need to suck it up, work with it, or mask it.  I think this recipe masks it.

The bottle suggested yogurt or cottage cheese, honey and flavors like fruit, juice, chocolate, cinnamon, et. al.  So I decided to give something like that a try.  Its definitely drinkable, but it has a flavor — I’m not sure if that’s from the flaxseed oil or from the amber agave nectar, which has a strong maple-y flavor to it.


  • 2 Tbs flaxseed oil
  • 3/4 cup plain yogurt
  • Agave nectar
  • Handful of red raspberries
  • 1 banana
  • Some homemade peach mango juice.

Looking at that list, maybe some of those don’t go so well together, but I kind of like making big messes like that.

Anyway, toss all that in a blender, and drink up.
